Winslow Is an Opportunity Some May be Missing
As home prices in Flagstaff have sky rocketed during the past several years, our neighbors to the east in Winslow have not seen their property values increase so dramatically. This could provide an opportunity for homebuyers who are shut out of the market here in Flagstaff.
If you find yourself seriously wanting to buy a home but cannot afford one here, you should consider Winslow. Although some may argue that Winslow does not have all the amenities that Flagstaff does, the undisputable fact is that homes are more affordable there than here. A recent search on the Northern Arizona Multiple Listing Service web site shows that there are currently 30 single family homes on the market in Winslow ranging in price from $69,000 to $213,000.
The current population stands at about 9500 at an elevation of 5000 feet. Two web sites that provide good information about the town are the city’s site at http://ci.winslow.az.us/ and the Chamber of Commerce site at http://www.winslowarizona.org. An interesting document that can be found on the city’s site is a “Strategic Housing Plan and Assessment.” The document has some interesting information on demographics, projected growth, the local economy as well as local housing issues.
Investors should also consider Winslow. There are numerous land parcels for sale as well as multifamily and commercial properties. No one knows what the future holds for Winslow but I think it is worthy of consideration.
